Replace the air intake hose and tighten the band clamps. Insert the new filter, and push it all the way to the top, then lubricate the o-rings with clean engine oil and insert them into the filter housing and element. Once the 8 cap screws are removed, clean around the oil filler cap, then remove it and lift the cover up and move it out of the way to the left. Then, install the filter and tighten it up clockwise nice and snug, but do not over tighten because it could make it difficult to loosen the next time you change your oil. A remote oil filter is most beneficial for those who have twin turbos, as the installation of the second turbo denies access to the stock filter location. The filter location is different on some chassis even though the file mentions only the drivers side for motorhomes. Now slide the wrench and adjust the ratchet handle to the position shown on the left when the strap is tightened, and loosen the filter enough to allow removal by hand. Calibration is an excellent idea and costs zero when doing an oil change. A diesel particulate filter has a ceramic matrix, which filters soot particles and regenerates them under high temperature, heated by exhaust gases. Proper torque for 2002 models is 35 ft-lb. This works better if you change your own oil.
Serviced my friends Tiffin yesterday. Think the temps are going up to the upper 40's to 50's around the end of the week in your area. Another odd thing the valve cover is black along with the entire engine and all of the engine paint is peeling, all of the other Cummins engines I saw in those years had a red valve cover, later years the entire engine was all red. Renowned for their ability to work in tough conditions, engines from the B Series thrive when the fuel system is regularly maintained. Pour the old oil into jugs and drain the filter into a jug. I went to Cummins with my engin serial number and got the right filter.
