As information is scarce on the matter I will wait until we know exactly what and how it has been modified before judging. You get a very wishy-washy ending. Putting more skin on her suits is 100% prudishness. German censorship for videogames is nuts, though. Going off of the promotional material, gameplay, and story segments I've seen, a lot of the things in the game that are getting changes seem to have been there to drive sales via sex appeal and don't relate to the writing or overall game world in any significant way. Users who wish to not see spoiler flaired threads can use the spoiler-free link: Raising the age eliminated the need to cut out sexual innuendos and other story elements, so that is the only thing I wanted to stay in the game.
Not something I am a huge fan of. As it stands though, it's just kind of hard for me to really get riled up at what seems at least on the surface like some fanservice getting cut from the title. Trying to frame this using a word with connotations to the suppression of free speech come off as a smidge overblown to me though. It doesn't spoil much I think. I think it's more about the fact that it is, in a way, very disrespectful. It's not the same offset for every of us, since it depend on which items you have in your inventory.
This isn't exactly a suppression of free speech per se, but it's the artists and designers being afraid that their works will be found culturally offensive if they don't change them to conform to western values. Never put spoilers in a post title. You also get an Asterisk corresponding to the choice you made. If the game was dealing thematically with a topic like human sexuality or something similar then that'd be another story and I'd probably be on board with the majority opinion in this thread. A few minor details are changed, so what? In this era where we're encouraging discussions about gender issues and sexual orientations and see them as normal facets of human life and psychology, some people decide to go Victorian on us.
That doesn't make sense for a cowboy. So this shouldn't really be a problem, even for strict German regulations. Default was also a game where one character and I feel that's waaaaaaay worse than a tiny bit of cleavage and leg that apparently requires only a few polygons more coverup. You can of course inject back your save from the clean game on the uncensored version. I gotta say though, the Japanese version succubi are practically naked. A subreddit for appreciating Square Enix's Bravely Default and Bravely Second.
You now get to redo sidequests and again choose from Option A or B. To me that's worse than the perceived racism of it. Apparently people wanting to see all endings had to make a new playthrough in the Japanese version. The main aspect they sought out to remove in the artbook is some pics representing Agnes with her hands tied by a red ribbon. Still annoyed about the Tomahawk change, though.
In fact, I struggle to think of why it was that way in the Japanese release. You can of course inject back your save from the clean game on the uncensored version. I mean, let's be frank. I'm more concerned about the visual alterations atm. All these changes are asinine and useless, it should have been left alone.
There were also only a few changes in Default the Bravo Bikini, removal of Wakoku Warrior, and the spoiler I mentioned in my other post and all the characters were aged up in Default anyway, so they're not kids. So it's only about side quests, the main story is untouched. None of these are as egregious as in Default. It may be right since from what I understood you basically have to do the same side quests 4 times if you want to see all the endings, and that would need 2 playthrough, for 2 minutes of different content. I just wait for this whole mess to be clearer to react, but of course I'd be really concerned if everything's true. This is how I felt about it. I really dont get why they changed the artbook, its art, its concept stuff.
I don't know about the dialogue but it's didn't seem too sexual at all, just the Ringabel-ish wannabe casanova stuff and the girls unacceptable and eye rolling at him for the predictable behaviour. Choosing the opposite choice nets you the wishy-washy ending instead of the better one. For now the only elements we have originate all from the same gamefaqs thread. Was this not kept for Second? And inject the sdf save on the hack version using this: Be careful: You can't use the same savegame for both games. You must first use SavaDataFiler on your clean rom. Then look the following screenshots: Same problem for me, Eur game, are you adding more bits to the sav? Without much death, even in the Japanese version with the exception of Bahamut. I saw some people saying they could have done this because of the way Bravely Default was heavily criticized for the loop ending.
